"GET THE WBTS OUT OF THE UN" Pickets
by MadApostate insince it has been several years since i attended an assembly/convention, i don't know if some of you folks are still picketing such, .
the upcoming special assembly this sunday would seem to be a great opportunity to spread this un issue to the jw r&f.. can't you just hear the "buzz" in the hallways:.
"why are the apostates holding signs saying, 'get the wbts out of the un'"?.

"Seek and You Shall Find...."
by Farkel incan one find sunshine when one is only looking for gloomy clouds?.
can happiness be found if one only seeks sadness and anger?.
can joy be found if the seeker is only interested in discovering misery?.

Farkel, bravo..
There's no doubt that sincere JWs really believe their message of doom as a prelude to the establishment of an earthwide Shangri-La is a comforting one. I'm sure most, if not all, of these dubs would be revolted at the sight of just one bloodied, smashed-up corpse were they to happen upon the scene of, say, a tragic automobile accident.
Yet it fails to register with them that in order to get to their Paradise, they'll have to step over the bodies of 6 billion mangled fellow humans, including infants.
It also impresses me that, when they talk about the impending Big A, they describe its source as some sort of blind, unreasoning, impersonal storm-like force rather than the God of love that Jesus describes, who takes into account every sparrow that falls to earth. -

We are forgetting something.
by MrMoe inthose of us who are no longer jw's were jw's at one point in time, correct?.
we all know for a fact that 95% of jw's do care - so much - that they endure mosquitoes, heat, cold, fire ants, rabid dogs, loss of personal income, spend their free time dedicated to helping others, and much much more to help assholes who hate them to help save their lives.. please - do not carry anger towards these people, because we were once like them (blind.
) it is not their fault they are wrong - because at one point in time we were all like them.

Hi all,
It seems one of the recurrent themes on this board is that of the chasm that divides the rank and file JW from the leadership. In most cases, our contempt is focused, rightly, on the latter for the cynical manipulation of the flock.
There's no question that most of the locals are well-motivated, if naive, people, quite unaware that progressively, almost imperceptibly through the years, their exposure to WT dogma and their concurrent withdrawal from the influence of broader, outside sources of information (how many JWs, I wonder, are avid readers of newspapers and other respected news periodicals?) have narrowed their worldview to a hairbreadth. -

Society CD ROM vs BOUND VOLUMES
by ballistic inseveral years prior to the release of the first edition of "the watchtower library" in england on cd rom in 1994, the society made an announcement that back-issues of bound volumes of the watchtower and awake would be available (for sale) by ordering through the literature desk.. many in the congregation had wanted a complete library of watchtowers for years and there was a frenzy of orders placed.
i, myself, ordered the complete collection.. however, upon receiving news of the cd rom becoming available, i wondered just why the society had made so many old re-prints available when they must have known about the future release of the cd.. this also coincided with the rules changing in england for the charging / donating for literature and i distictly remember a talk by an elder saying how much we should donate for the cd through the new donation process... something like "a comparible encylopedia on cd rom would cost 30 to 40 in the shops - so how much do you think we should donate for this treasure of god-given knowledge".. it just struck me that the literature sell-off was a last ditch attempt at making money, for fear that the cd rom combined with the new donation programme would spell disaster for the societys income.. any thoughts?.
i need a more recent copy of the cd rom if anyone has one?

MacHislopp,
What you say about the WT indexes is correct; they have in some cases deleted references to articles that they now consider embarassing. One prominent example was the November 1976 series on ``Sacred Service.''
Unless one remembers that it was published, he/she will never find any reference to it in their index. -

Tanalyst,
However one does it and whatever the subject, DISCLOSURE is our biggest ally and the WT's most dreaded adversary. The facts in such cases as the UN are self-evident and we need only the remember to present them in an objective, dignified manner, on as large a stage as possible. -

Hi Tina, et al,
This issue of racism is a tinderbox. In New Jersey, the politically correct are lambasting the police for so-called `racial profiling.'' Whether the reasons are explicable in socio-economic or racial terms continues to be hotly debated, but the facts--not opinions-- are that 5 percent of American society commits 30 percent of the crimes.
With these numbers staring them in the face, how are the law enforcement officers of this nation, as well as the legislators and sociologists supposed to interpret them without being branded ``racist?'' -

The Hypocrisy of the Governing Body
by radar inif the rank and file members of jehovahs witnesses reject the watchtower's thinking on bible doctrine in some way, they are considered apostate.. yet the governing body of j.ws, themselves have rejected teachings of previous governing body members who have long since died and have proceeded to change interpreatation on things many times over, from russell to fred franz.
guess what they call it..........apostasy?.
no, this is called new light.. .

by MrMoe ini will let you all hang who ever the heck wrote this crap.
november 8, 2001 awake page 9: some battered women may need to seek assistance from the authorities.
at times, a point of crisis-such as intervention of the police-can cause an abusive man to see the seriousness of the action.. page 12: should the battered wife leave her husband?

It's another example of neurotic WT micro-management and manipulation of the flock that perpetuates their infantile, dependent state of mind -- just like they tell baptismal candidates (male) to wear non-sloganed tee shirts and (female) not to put on a two piece bathing suit.
Can't they simply say that if a woman reacts honorably and in good consicience to a situation that she perceives to be life-threatening, nobody should judge or critcize her?
Also your point on JW demographics vis a vis the ``out of work, underpaid, etc.'' is well taken.
Also, the point about ``different cultural backgrounds'' is an
interesting one. In my experience, I've seen many instances in which JW marriages break up because deep cultural differences are ignored or pooh-poohed, because ``the main thing is both are in The Truth.''
I recall one particularly ill-suited couple-- a Puerto Rican woman married a Finn, where the cultural chasm was so wide it was almost funny-- except, of course for the agony it brought to the children of this misbegotten union. -

And please, someone correct me if I'm wrong:
I understand that Rutherford and his stooges extricated themselves from this mess by removing the offending pages from future editions of the Finished Mystery. So much for their ``undaunted courage.'' Sounds like a capitulation to me. -

Ted Jaracz in France?
by bj inon the 16th august, maximus asked the question: "wasn't gb member ted jaracz present at this convention?
his assistant said he was in france.".
from my checking here in france, jaracz wasn't in bordeaux, lyon, and seems neighter in paris.

Hi,
Didn't our French colleague Chasson also mention Jaracz as having been in France for the summer assemblies?
